Proper Wealth branding and header graphic reading “Quarterly Investment Commentary – Q4 2025,” introducing a market update blog focused on disciplined investing, diversification, and maintaining a balanced approach amid shifting economic data, interest rate changes, and market volatility.

According to East Bay Investment Solutions’ latest quarterly commentary, 2025 rewarded disciplined, well-diversified investors as global stocks and bonds delivered solid returns despite ongoing uncertainty. The U.S. economy provided meaningful support, with the most recent GDP reading coming in at 4.3%, and the Federal Reserve lowering interest rates at the end of the year. At the same time, the data also reflected a more complicated backdrop. Unemployment rose to 4.6% during the quarter, Core PCE inflation remained stubborn at 2.8% versus the Fed’s 2% target, and geopolitical conflict expanded as the year closed.

At Proper Wealth, we think several points stand out from this quarter’s data:

  • Diversification continued to do its job, with international stocks helping broaden returns and reduce reliance on any single market.
  • Market leadership shifted, with 5 of the Magnificent 7 lagging the S&P 500, reinforcing why concentration risk matters.
  • The mix of strong GDP growth and the Fed’s late-year rate cuts was supportive, but rising unemployment, persistent inflation, and geopolitical uncertainty reinforced the need for a measured, risk-aware approach.

Overall, it was a period of contrasts: solid market performance and supportive policy moves paired with signals that the path forward may remain uneven. For long-term investors, this quarter reinforces the value of sticking with a clear plan, maintaining diversification, and revisiting risk exposure as conditions evolve.
